With a size of 38 m long and 19 km wide, Pulau Tioman (Tioman Island) is the largest of volcanic group of islands off the coast of Pahang. Surrounded by crystal clear waters of the South China Sea, the island is famous of its corals and rich marine life.

    At Berjaya Tioman Beach Resort on the western coast, there are many recreational facilities such as horse-back riding, cycling and even viewing the colourful marine life through glass bottomed boats. you can also try a game of golf at the resorts landscape 18-hole course. Another attraction nearby is the Sudut Muzium at Tekik Village. in the village itself one can see the hand painting of cloth and pick up a few souvenirs.

    Juara Beach in the eastern side of the island is a secluded stretch of pure white sands and very much ideal for relaxation. It is accessible by a jungle track from the west coast of the island.

    For energetic, the Twin Peaks in the south offers jungle trekking and hill climbing. A waterfall at Paya Village is purely for the fun of swimming, bathing and picnicking.

    Tioman offers its visitors with a wide choice of accommodation ranging from five-stars resorts, chalets, longhouses, to A-frame huts. Cheap accommodation can be found on the villages of Tekek, Salang, Genting and Air Batang, For food, local fare can be partaken in Tekek village while Berjaya Tioman Resort provides a good choice of local and western cuisine.

    How to get there: Air travel is the easiest way to get to the island, via Pelangi Air and Tradewinds, with regular daily flights from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore take only one hour before landing on the island airstrip. By road, head of the coastal town of Mersing in the state of Johor or Tanjung Gemuk (near Rompin) inPahang where regular sea bushes ply between the mainland and the island. The boat ride take about two hours from either jetty points at Tanjung Gemuk or Mersing. Ferry service from Singapore at Finger Pier ply daily (except Wednesday) to Tioman, taking about four-and-a half hours.
